"Accidentally Wes Anderson" Brings Stunning Sights And Sounds To Philbrook Museum

Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa has organized an exhibit with the hugely popular @accidentallywesanderson, an Instagram account inspired by the eponymous director that has now garnered a cult following of its own. This Is An Adventure: Accidentally Wes Anderson will feature photographs taken by the Instagram account’s community around the world, including photography in and around Tulsa.

This exhibit will be visually stunning, but one of the most exciting features will be the previously-unheard tracks by frequent collaborator Mark Mothersbaugh. The composer has worked on several Wes Anderson films — from Bottle Rocket to the Life Aquatic (and of course VOKSEE’s favorite soundtrack, The Royal Tenenbaums), but is also notable the co-founder of the new wave band Devo.

Wes Anderson penned the foreword in the AWA book, saying, “The photographs in this book were taken by people I have never met, of places and things I have, almost without exception, never seen,” he says. “But I must say: I intend to.”

Philbrook Museum says it best: Find inspiration to explore the world, but also to take a closer look just where you are. With an open mind and broadened perspective, adventure awaits us all.

The Philbrook Museum exhibition was organized in collaboration with Accidentally Wes Anderson. The exhibit is scheduled to run from September 17 to January 2, 2022.
